To all the wonderful people from Germany,
I live in New York and have relatives in Somerset Pennsylvania. This
tragedy has hit me right at home on both accounts. The wonderful prayers
and heart felt emotion from you and your country is ever so appreciated. I
have relatives and friends in both France and Germany. A copy of this
letter is sent to my friends in France as well.
My mother was a citizen of Germany during WWII and now a citizen of the USA.
As a little girl we heard stories and through out the years growing up.
Devastating to say the least. Never did I ever believe that I would have to
explain to my children something as treacherous as this as she had to
explain to us when we asked about the "whys". We have always lived in a
country that has been so free, so helpful to others, and now.......to
explain the most evil part of life to innocence shattered in childrens eyes.
And to attempt to make them honestly believe that I can protect them and
keep them safe.
Tears run for all the people that God has chosen for his special angels from
this horrendous tragedy. And tears run from the outpouring of wishes from
your people and your country. It seems like it all hurts, but healing does
hurt. The caring and humanity that I have heard from my friends and family
there are comforting. The prayers I hope will help us all. The eternal
flame that burns here for hope burns in every persons heart worldwide.
The day that I had to watch this all happen and see my daughter cover her
face in horror. To have to see her cry with fear, heartbreak and the
unknown. But to be able to tell her as each day went on that people like
you were praying, that we had friends, that our country has friends, that
they would all help us find this bad thing and help us as parents to make
her feel safe and that every parents wish is to make their children as safe
as possible worldwide. How vulnerable life is.
Thank you all so very much.
